A couple days ago, we were eating dinner on the back porch and I spotted an eagle fly by. It turned, made a big circle, then swooped down and snatched about a 14" fish off the top of the water and whirled away. We've been to Canada fishing a bunch of times and seen eagles eating, fighting in mid-air, but never a snatch & grab like this one. Right here on Lake Erie! How cool is that!!! ErieBoy75
That is something you just sit in awe of. I never been to Canada so the only ones I have seen are around here. Most of the time just sitting in a tree. But I did have one swoop down twice and pick up fish out of the Oberlin resivor. It was that much more special that my grandfather was there with me.
There has been a breeding pair here in Mansfield on the Clear Fork Resevoir for a couple years now, nest is very near the water. My son and I watched the mother bring in lunch one day while fishing, they're noisy lil buggers. A storm this summer brought the nest down, but volunteers that keep an eye on things were able to get it back up with no objections from the parents, there were some pretty cool pics in the local paper. Nice to see them making such a strong resurgence.
