Went out after the morning rush from North Beaver and hit the lake about 11:30 AM. Went out Northeast to the Southern edge of the parking lot of Perch boats West of Hot Waters and talked to a gentleman who was alone in his boat who asked what we were fishing for. Told him Perch and he pointed straight down and said to anchor in where we were. That was the best suggestion I'd had in quite a while. We caught 40 that were 10" or better and threw back probably 50 that were smaller and a whole lot of white bass and 1 huge sheephead that gave my son a good time . Stayed out 3.5 hours and finally ran out of minnows. We were surprised at how many of the fish were gut-shot by inhaling the bait so far down their gullet. 32 FOW using shiners on crappie rigs, underhand cast from the boat and worked the rig back to the boat bouncing the sinker on the bottom very slowly. If no hit on the retrieve, we let it sit straight down on the bottom with the wave action bouncing it; either caught or got dtripped almost every cast. Listened to the guys on 79 chasing Walleye and watched other guys drift through the pack catching Walleye. Since I rarely fish for them, I hadn't thought to bring any nightcrawlers so I'll know better next week....spinner
