Depends on how fast your drift is. Slow drift then 1/2oz to 1oz is what I use. A little faster then I use 1 1/2 oz to a 2oz. Some guys will use up to a 3oz when trolling. You are looking for enough weight to keep it down. If you use the 1/2oz alot of times you are drifting fast enough to raise the weight up off the bottom.

I've used anything from 1/2 to 4oz depending on wind and wave conditions.

Anytime Catfish. That is what we are all about on here. Helping others and trying tobecomebetter fisherman. I had a lot of luck last year on the bottom bouncers. I would put one out and then cast erie dearies or worm harness and just keep an eye on the bottom bouncers. Tip if you miss a few fish on the bottom bouncer try just dropping it back a little and let the slack go back out of the line a lot of times the fish will be there when it tightens back up.

Actually. when you say "bottom bouncers with worm harness" that would mean those weights with the wires in them and would not "cast" well at all. On the other hand worm harness' can be used casting but with some sort of inline weight, usually a slip sinker a kept a foot or more above the harness.
Just don't want you to go into a tackle shop and ask for bottom bouncer weights and then head out and try to wing em' out there. Although they do work great just dropped over the side and drifted but again casting them would be problematic.
Hope this helps |

You might try some floating harnesses, like the wally-pops with an in-line 2 oz weight. you can feel the weight drag the bottom knowing the harness won't get snagged on something. I hate pulling up a harness full of zebra mussels!
