A nice farm pond would be great practice!! You can even practice casting in the back yard!! Keep me posted!!
Just to give you a idea Okuma has a nice combo for around $110.00.

Thanks I will D.E. I tried it a few years back but wasn't a real good set up. When I go to buy one I will shoot you a PM if I have any questions.

Rob,
I got mine on Ebay for 48 bucks. Cortland rod 7/8 wt and an okuma integrity 7/8 wt reel. Works just fine. Caught my first couple on the fly rod last friday. Pretty neat. A lot easier than it looks thats for sure.

BK, glad to hear that you caught a couple with the fly rod, sweet!!! Not as hard as you thought it was going to be was it!! The best thing to do is surf the internet and check out the sights on casting, tying leaders, different knots that are used and on and on. I found doing that was very helpful. Also you can get out in the yard and practice casting, you don't even need anything on your line to do it!! basically right now you are sight fishing, you see them in the rapids and you float a fly fight in front of their face. Pretty neat to see them strike at it or even chase it, get one on and hold on for the ride!!!!!! Getting ready to go up right now, took the day off to fish with my son!! Pictures later!!

I'll tell it to you like it was!!!!!!!!!! Fishing sucked today!!!!! Got there at 8 am there were six cars already in the small parking lot and I had to park across the street in the grass. My friend Ron was already fishing and said he had a couple on but didn't land any. We started walking down the river and we just weren't seeing hardly any fish. The Rocky is at a low flow rate and the water is also very clear and the fish are spooky. So when they see you they are off and gone. There was a ton of people out today also, we should of been there at day light. Might be close to the end unless we get some rain to bring in some new fish and cloud up the water a little. 70 deg. brings out the jerks with no edict also!!
