Last year sometimes when I would start my boat, the starter would stay engauged. Could this be an alignment issue, maybe a weak pull-back spring. The coil was not energized, and the motor would start fine. Anyone seen or heard of this? The starter was just replaced about the middle of the 06 season. Any help would be appreciated. Thad
I know this is a little different Thad but I replaced a starter on my ranger a few years back and about six months after I did it started sticking like you are discribing. I had to get a new starter. Might want to have it check out. I know a guy that does small pumps and motors if you would like I can have him take a look at it for you.
Thad I had the same problem on a older boat I had 7-8 years ago and it was just a bad starter, took it out and tested it and it always worked fine until it was under a load.Same thing like Kevin is talking about. You know how it goes now days-let's build every thing cheaper-faster and so called better for more $$$$$$$$RIGHT.
