Well I bought a different boat but I will need a new fish finder and gps unit.Do you guys prefer one unit or prefer two seperate units? What makes and brands do you like,I'm know pro and like SIMPLE operations.
Thanks Mark Butler - ( Let Christ be your light house )
I have seperate units. A Lowrance LMS-522iGPS and a Raymarine DS500X Fish Finder. Having 2 seperate units is a niceity not a neccessity. The Lowrance I have is a combo unit but I only use the GPS portion of it but the fish finder is ready should the Raymarine bow out. I have a hand help GPS should the Lowrance not work.
I am a big fan of seperate units if you can swing it for the simple reason that if one unit has to be serviced you still have the other. Also if you would want to upgrade you can do ot one system at a time.
On my brother-in-law's boat we have seperate units and that seems to work very well for us. You can have the full screen gps to track your trolling path to make sure you hit your points and the full screen fish finder to be able to easily see the depth of the fish so you can make adjustments on the fly.
hey mark ,, i just put a lowrance 522 df on boat last season and i couldnt be happier with the unit ..comes loaded with like 15 maps .. great deal .. congrats on your new boat .wake
I have seperate units, both older. My GPS, however, communicates with my new radio to display the numbers so I don't have to switch screens on the GPS to see where I am, which is kinda nice.
If nothing else I need numbers to know where I am. Takes a while to learn but worth it. Map would also be nice with the bottom couture!!! All of my unites are separate. Two fish finders and two gps's.
