Just recieved an email from Redneck informing a few of his fellow fisherman that he will be having back surgery this coming monday. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers the next couple of days. I've had the privledge to fish with this man and he is a GREAT person. Would give you the shirt off his back. So please just throw in a prayer or two to the big guy upstairs for our friend.

Hang in there buddy!!!

I'd pray for you Redneck but I don't think God likes me so I don't know if it would do any good!

I notice you're from Perrysville which is pretty close to where I live so if you need help with anything (I don't know transportation ?? whatever) give me a call. 419-834-0536. I'll help you out it if I can. By the way - I could use a shirt.

Will NOT fish for food !!

I was talking to him today and he was figuring out what did his back in. He thinks it was working on his boat, getting out on a step ladder and his foot slipped. Just goes to show you it can sometimes be the dumbest things that put you down.
You are right BK, Mark is one of the nicest guys you will meet. I got to know him on this very sight and we have been good friends ever séance.

The world needs more guys like Mark, that avatar tells a story about the good within. We are all lucky to be associated with him and his nature.Hopefully this all goes well and brings some relief,as he is close to one month in total agony based on our calls.

Don't worry dear once we get past this rough water it will flatten out.

What a day that I'm glad is over.

At 10:30 AM, just as I was getting ready to start my morning S's I found out that my father was taken to the ER for a nose and ear bleed that they couldn't stop.

I had to be at Akron at 1:30PM, so I stopped in Ashland to see my dad on the way. He seemed to be stable and had a appointment with a Ear/Nose/Throat specialist.

We arrived at the Akron hospital at 12:30, an hour early. Meme, my wife, went to check in and fill out paperwork while I laid in the back of the Tahoe accompanied by her father. She came back and said there was bad news. The operating room services didn't have me scheduled today even though my surgeon had me scheduled at 3:30PM. They just kept telling us to hold on and they would see what they could do.

My Mom calls and says the specialist had cauterized a broken blood vessel way up my father's nasal cavity just below the eye and that he was back home.

Meanwhile, I'm sleeping in the back of the Tahoe and at 2:30 they finally call and tell us to come in. I was now scheduled to have surgery at 4:30.

All prepped up and wheeled into ER at 4:20. Doctor called Meme at 5:10 and said that he removed 3 disc fragments pressing against the Sciatic nerve root. The doctor stated that not too often does he remove multiple fragments and now definitely understands why I was in so much pain.

As soon as I woke up in recovery my leg pain was GONE. The only pain that I had was from the actual incision and a little Morphine took the edge right off and I'm sure the 60 Perocet pills that they gave me will continue to keep the pain in check. LOL

Physical therapy starts tomorrow. Walk to the mailbox. I told Doc my mailbox was 650 feet away and half of which is downhill. Doc said don't walk to the mailbox. LOL Just walk a couple of minutes on our treadmill at a slow pace. Day 2- Walk farther than Day One, Day 3 Walk farther than Day 2, etc..

Left hospital at 8PM. Called my Mom to let her know that I was on my way home and she said Dad was back in ER with another bleed and that his heart had stopped but his pacemaker did it's job and fired him back up. Now he's admitted.

I am currently laying in my recliner. Something that I have not been able to do since Dec.10th.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Mark

Mark, Sorry to hear about your dad. Hope everything goes OK there. These Dr's and hospitals sure mess things up. I thought VA was the only one that did. Maybe in a couple of weeks you can make it to the mailbox. Just do as the Doc orders. Get well soon. Spring is just around the corner and you don't want to miss the great spring fishing.

Good to hear it went well Mark. Are you saying you left the hospital the SAME night!? Amazing the advancements in medicine, my mother had a disc removed 20 yrs ago and was in for a week or two. Hope all is well with your father, and that you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks for askin.

Doing much better. Not ready for the Octogon yet but I'm getting there. LOL

Still some incision pain and stiffness and right foot has some numbness. Doc says numbness is normal.

Muscle soreness is my biggest complaint as I haven't been able to do anything for a month and now I'm walking on the treadmill each day and using muscles that haven't done anything for a month.

Dad is doing well also.

Can't wait until ice out.

Glad to hear that you are coming along and that your dad is to. Now what do you mean can't wait until ice out. You have been cooped up. You need to look out the window. Some guys are still waiting for ice in. (LOL)

I love ice fishing and hope we get some this season. I purchased a new shanty and can't wait to try it out. Mark when you coming to one of our club meetings? Come check it out once u start to feel better. Later dude. Glad your feeling better.
