Took a day and went for a ride on the east end of the lake.got off the beaten trail at the end of RT2 and drove east. Was surprised to find our Garmin Nuvi even identified and used dirt roads!!!That toy sure does make road trips much easier to find all the nooks and crannies.

Geneva State Park was the original destination for brunch at Horizon's in the lodge.

Lodge design is all good stuff.

Lobby is four stories.

With an awesome fireplace wall.

Nice mix of new and old construction practices.

Greatroom feel throughout.

Ate brunch at Horizons, the attached octagon. You get a view of the lake proper, which we have found harder to do than you would think while dining.Food was good but needed an attendant to keep things freshened up,reasonable at $12.95.Omletts,carving station, various dishes and dessert, included beverages.

Nice pads with fire pit, grill, benches and tables.

Tables are all up now.

Not a friendly swimming beach...LOL..

Erosion at its finest.

Zebras are a lot easier than sand for hoofing, not many here.

Gulls got some fair weather condos.

Marina mouth.

View from marina area.

Not too busy at the marina.

Dredge was an interesting vessel.

Fresh,clean stuff.

A/C in the pilothouse probably makes that position hard to obtain.

Never really looked at a cutter up close, bet that would fix bones.

We were on the cross country skiing trail minus one element!!!

All in all, nice place, looks good for everyone with game and exercise rooms,in and outdoor pools for the stay behinds while the fishing addict gets a fix.

Stopped at Ashtabula Harbor by the Coast Guard museum which was closed but we got some more boring pictures.

Just a FEW railcars of coal...lol...

Ore bucket controls offered some interesting angles.

Just a little chain.

The Coast Guard maritime museum is similar in some regards to Vermillion's.

Conneaut river mouth.

Nicer beach.

Conneaut light.

Don't worry dear once we get past this rough water it will flatten out.

Craig, Did you get a new camera also? Sure took a lot of pic's. But that's what it takes, sometimes to get people to go out and see this beautiful state of ours. And the lake front is not just for fishing.

No Bob,I've had this Olympus E300 Digital SLR since October of 05 and just backed up almost 10,000 pictures from it and our Stylus 720sw,a waterproof Olympus. Can't wait to free dive and shoot some fish around the islands. We do more than fish and git on the lake, for some reason I'm obsessed with this "polluted" mess.It amazes me to hear how many people do not know this stuff is up there and when we tell them we do the lake they give you a puzzled look and want to know why we like "Cleveland"...lol...

I've always had a photographic hobby and love to do stuff like this to r'n'r as well as expose more to our "hidden" jewel. Can't wait to get the boat done and spend whole weekends afloat, doing what we love.

Don't worry dear once we get past this rough water it will flatten out.

Nice pics Craig!!
I wish I lived up that way, I live about 60 miles south of Vermillion and go up to the lakes as often as I can. You got any new pics of your boat, I can't wait to see it done. I'd love to see it in person. I like to see the old ones reconditioned. They don't make them like they use to. I helped a guy recondition an old wooden 36' Chris Craft when I was a kid and it looked absolutley gorgeous when we were done. Took us all summer but I enjoyed it. Its what made me have a longing for the lake and what it has to offer. You people that live up there definitely need to appreciate what is in your backyard. I know I would.

Will NOT fish for food !!
