Hit the river this morning with Layin' Hard Wood and didn't know if we would be able to fish for very long cause of the conditions. Rumor had it from a source in Ashland that they got hit pretty hard with rain. To our delight the river stayed quite nice and really wasn't too bad. Up a bit and a little dirty but the fish were biting. Not like the last couple of days but we got into some nice fresh silvers today. I landed a female that was 32 1/2" long. Took me ten minutes to land her. She was nice and fresh. We hooked up on 15-20 fish and landed 8 of em. All coming on sacs. Orange and chartruese netting did the best today. I felt bad for my buddy, he is usually pretty good at this game and he didn't even hook one til around 11 o'clock. Usually he gets the better of me but not today. Enjoy the pics.

Dog gone it BigKev you're killing me! Here I thought the river was to high and crummy to fish now you go and do that. I was going to come up tomorrow with a buddy, but he went and got sick on me (wimp) so I told the wife I would be home instead. Darn it! Oh well, there's always next week-end I guess.

Nice fish, Kev. I was going to go today but the wife brought out the Honey do list. And since she will be home till Wednesday, I guess I'm stuck.

Hello Gentlemen, yea kev. I got a question for you. You posted four pictures, the first two and the last one, the fish look the same in general. But the third fish looks different to me. The bottom fins are pinkish. That day that I was down there with my brother Jerry, we caught 6 and 3 of them looked exactly the same as that third picture, they had teeth on the top of their mouths, not little nubs but teeth. Is this just a different strand???

Yes there at two different strain of fish that run in our rivers. Manistee and I forget what the other is called but yes there are two different kinds. I'll give you a buzz SeaPro.

I'm sorry Bischoff I forgot to answer your question also. The steelies are all the way to the dam in Wakeman. As long as the river has enough water the fish will run that far. I've been told by the SeaGrant people that these fish can swim 22 miles in a day. I'm sure there were fish there in October. Good Luck and sorry I didn't respond sooner.
