Kev,
Are you still working the condo area east of the V?If so ,that was what my question in the other post was about.Just wondering where the fish might be holding during the day, seems unlikely they would migrate from Cranberry area all the way east of the V for the nitebite.Might have to check out front and to the east one day.Keep up the good work and good luck,Mike
p.s. Is Dave closed for the season?

Mike, I'll try to answer your questions. If I'm wrong BK can correct me. The fish are not moving from Cranberry east. The western migration has fish all along the coast from the PA border to Michigan. We have caught fish in front of the condos during the day all year so being there at nite is no surprise. They may move off into deeper water during the day. Again all along the shore they will be in 20+ feet or deeper depending on the drop off. And on cloudy days like we have had lately they could still be in shallow.
If I were going out, I would start in 15 or 20 ft and troll toward deeper water. Just a matter of letting out more line every 5ft or so.
Dave has not closed for the season as of yet. He has been sick and so have the kids so he is not in the store that much. Plus with the weather we have been having it doesn't pay for him to be open. Hope this helps.

I was working the east last week or whenever that last post was that I said that lol. Those fish are around and I'm guessing (from what i've been told about fall walleye) that they move out to around 35 FOW give or take 5 feet during the day. Then when the night comes they move in with the baitfish as they move in. Now that doesn't mean that there still wont be some out deep after dark as well cause my buddy was getting em in 24 FOW Tues night. Fishing cranks up high. Like I stated before, after the water flips in the fall the oxygen in the water column and the fish will be up high down low side to side everywhere so its kind of a crapshoot. Thats y we target them at night. Makes it a little easier to find em.

Kev and Bob,
Thanx for the replies.Growing up in the area,I am very familiar with the nitebite situation along the shoreline and do quite a bit in the spring.Just never really showed the kind of marks east of V as to the west during the daytime.Getting older and retired now, closer is better and daytime(warmer) is better also for me. LOL Just have to get out and look around I guess,if the wind ever gives us another break.Thanx again and Good Fishing to you both. Mike(skipnskul ch79)

Skipnskul, I fish with Viper from Akron most of the time. We've caught fish from less than a mile off the breakwall at Lorain, about 200 yds out from the water treatment plant, down in front of the condos and out from the park on the east side of Vermilion during the day. From May until the end of June or the first week of July. My biggest eye (33 1/2") came from a mile off the breakwall in June about 3yrs ago. It all depends on how fast the water warms. Don't want to make those long runs if we don't have to.

Not trying to step on any toes here Bob but Mike means this time of year and he wonders where the fish that I was catching around the condos area at night are hanging out during the day. As someone once told me " there in the lake " LOL. I'm sure a lot of you have heard that response around this area a time or two. LOL.
