Check this out
$100 fill-up coming to pump near you Friday November 16, 6:00 am ET Terry Jackson
With speculators running up the price of a barrel of oil to the $100 range, there can be little doubt that the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline is headed for $3.50, and maybe even $4, before there's any sort of fallback.
While such price hikes will increase the pressure on new vehicle buyers to look for more fuel-efficient vehicles, there's a real sticker shock awaiting those who need or want a big sport utility vehicle or pickup truck.
Those vehicles are among the thirstiest gas-guzzlers, delivering an average of 14 to16 miles per gallon in combined city-highway driving if a driver is judicious with the gas pedal.
The real shock for drivers of these automobiles will come when the tank approaches empty and it's time to fill up. Because they burn a lot of fuel, these vehicles have larger gas tanks, which can mean that the final total on the gas pump can be frightening.
How frightening? How about $100 per fill-up?
At $3.50 a gallon, getting change from a Ben Franklin is not likely to happen very often. And on some vehicles, it will cost more than $100 to fill up.
Here's a list of some of the biggest budget busters on the market, including tank size and how much it costs to fill an empty tank at $3.50 a gallon:
Fill 'er up
Make and model.........................Tank size...........Cost Chrysler Aspen SUV ....................27 gallons.........$94.50 Ford Expedition SUV....................28 gallons.........$98.00 Infiniti QX56 SUV......................28 gallons.........$98.00 Cadillac Escalade ESV SUV..............31 gallons.........$108.50 Chevrolet Suburban SUV.................31 gallons.........$108.50 Chevrolet Avalanche SUV................31 gallons.........$108.50 Hummer H2 SUV..........................32 gallons.........$112.00 Ford Expedition EL SUV.................33.5 gallons.......$117.25 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD pickup.....34 gallons.........$119.00 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup..................35 gallons.........$122.50 Nissan Titan pickup....................37 gallons.........$129.50 Ford F250 Super Duty pickup............38 gallons........$133.00
Of course, as the price of gasoline rises, owners of more economical vehicles like the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry will also get wallet shock. Both cars come with 18.5-gallon gas tanks that would cost $64.75 for a fill-up.
We all need to drive, and while the ultimate measure of economy is the number of miles that can be squeezed from a gallon of fuel, it's worth considering what you're likely to be spending when that tank runs dry and to factor it into your budget.
Anyone have a horse and buggy for sale? They can't whoop us but they sure can break us.

I'm hearing you bigmtman. I was wondering myself how people can afford to live way out in the country and commute 40miles+ each way?!? Thats 80 miles a day just to work!! How do the guys that drive them Big ass F250 4x4 make it or any SUV?
You got to figure the truck payment is around $450.00mo+. According to the artical $133.00 each tank x1 1/2 tanks = round off to $200.00 a WEEK, $800.00mo for fuel. Thats $1250.00 a mo + ins. just to drive to work?!?!
When we built our house 14 years ago. Propane was $0.65gal. I filled the other day at $2.25gal. $1200.00!! $1.60gal increase for what? Propane isn't imported? It's tapped right here in the U.S.? You ever watch Lou Dobbs? he says and I am starting to believe it that the government is trying to weed out the middle class. You will be aether rich or poor.
All I want for Christmas is a GAS CARD!!!!!!!

Me and the wife both drive around 70 miles a day to work, thats around 140 miles total. It sucks because with no extra $ coming in like o.t. etc, when prices go up the extra gas $ have to come from some where, less fishing, less buying or out of bill/grocery money. It is nothing but plain old greed and to rip us off and there is nothing we can do about it!!!!!!!!!!Going back home to mom's house in Southeren Ill for thanksgiving, boy that will be fun,860 miles total, man I'll be thankful LOL. |

| Still better than the alternative. Freedom is not free. Glad we have a younger generation of volunteers who understand that (Rush babies?) in spite of the attempted indoctrination from the media and colleges. |

| Well said Freebie. Just like I hate getting old, but it beats the alternative. I put my time in a country that a lot of people still don't think we should have been in. |

| I'm surprised that anyone is shocked that gas prices are what they are. Two oilmen were voted into office. What did people expect? I use to lease land for oil & gas exploration and warned everyone who thought that they were morally obligated to vote for these two that they might want to consider the consequences. Oilmen are not that different from us, they are always "fishing", just for money though. My son served in Iraq and just got back. Did you know that Haliburton is serving our soldiers their food at about $50.00/plate. Seems odd to me, any other war were we contracted that out?? I'm not a republican or a democrat, I vote issues and people. How is it that a president with a 34% approval rating is still deciding what this country does. It is time for people to stop voting lines and religion needs to stay out of politics!! Just my opinion and that is what is great about this country, I'm allowed that, as are you, and I appreciate yours also. Maybe I need further educated?? I'm not opposed to that. If everyone would look at the issues and not just listen to whatever it is their party is saying, maybe we could get this back in the hands of the people, where it belongs. |

I agree BigMtnMan...... doubt we'll ever see those again.....Freebie/Seapro, couldn't have said it any better..... no more republican or democrat......just AMERICAN and truly working for the good of the country instead of trying to push their parties agenda.......
Bob...what can I say other than THANK YOU!!!!! My father is a veteran of the Korean war. I agree freedom isn't free.....I'm just not convinced that Iraq was the right place to go, and by how things are ending up, I don't think our government did enough of their homework to prepare ourselves to deal with the aftermath of Sadaam's regieme falling.....I would like to see our troops come home as much as any other. However, now that we are there, if we leave without Iraq being a self sufficient country that is able to take care of and protect their own boarders.....I fear we may have done nothing but create a new home for terrorists to base out of with a very lucrative domestic product to support their efforts, thus possibly doing more harm than good in the long run. |

Ok. My daughter said if I'm worried about gas then get a HYBIRD!!!! What a genius!!! We are going to check them out for the wife. I'm still going to check out a buggy and a horse. lol
SEAPRO your right on this. 2 oilmen in office mean one thing. High gas prices. Remember back about 30 years ago when we had gas rations? I remember not be able to go get gas except on odd # days or was it even # on your plate? There was a oil man in office then also. Why haven't the GOVERNMENT look into alternative flues sense then? They just brushed it under the rug it seems. Now Chaney is making a butt load of money off me,you and your kids. $50.00 a plate? They eating fillet stake everyday? I thought the army, navy, and marines made and severed their own? We contract everything out in our Arm services? WTF are we going to do when we need our men & women here at home to defend what the real Arm services are suppose to do. Defend OUR land not all over the world medaling.
LOL I been watching these debates on CNN. Are these people the ONLY choices we have? Not just one side but both? What I see is in everyone of them is that they want their turn at the cash cow. They want their turn to screw the American People and make a butt load of money. The real people that should run say it's to political. lol
SEAPRO You are very right. You/we have the right to express your opinion and not get castrated for it and you will never get that from me. You have a BIG stake in this mess. It was/is your son making sure we can keep doing this. Thank you!! But, I'm sorry for him being in harms way for oil.
If I had a 34% rating at my job I would be down the road. But take a step back and look whats in line. Chaney? He is next. Pelosi? She is next after Chaney. Harry Reid? He's next in line. So we would have to fire everyone in my view.lol I probably need educated also on this but I got a good idea. lol
I stood up and cheered Bush on September 11, 2001 when he said "We will go after these people that brought down our towers and make them pay!!" I was like HELL YES!!!!! I pray the next person in office will keep that promise to the United States of America and go after O.B.L. all out. Not just act like they are.

Also get yourself some Halliburton (HAL) and Exxon (XOM) stock. Look at the last five years, I know the money I've invested makes the pain I feel going to the pumps alot less. Another one you might want to look at is Suncor (SU) NYSE. I guess I could just make alot of money on a situation and not complain but why shouldn't I let you all in on the money to be had? I'm sure those in charge want us all to get rich from this. Isn't that the American thing to do? We do live in a capitalistic society don't we? Short term progress - gotta love it! Can you smell the irony - hell I should run for office. It's like the old saying goes - your head and your balls are for business - your hearts for home. If you can't beat them at least join them!! |

Can anyone tell I've just stopped smoking, after having smoked 3 packs a day for the last 30 years. Sorry but politics does get my blood boiling. Its is always about the money people - its sad but true! The only way we change it is to recognize that fact and practice that philosophy when we make decisions based on the lies we're told. The only way to find the truth is to look at the money behind the program. If a politician can get you emotional on a subject, they own you and have diverted your attention accordingly. I love this country but dislike the sheep like mentality politicians abuse. Get educated! Listen to both sides of an agruement and make decisions yourself! I'm sick of the hypocrites who proclaim morality in order to screw us better. I'm also sick of my money being used to help those who refuse to help themselves. The very definition of an enabler. There is a medium - we need to find it. The politicians will go there if we demand it. |

can anybody explain - why aren't we drilling in Alaska or off the gulf coast, or producing shale oil, or coal gassification? Why aren't we building refineries, or even nuke plants? Don't blame "the oilmen" for that. I hear China has a deal with Cuba to drill between us and Cuba... When/where did China get all this technological rocket experise? Don't blame "the oilmen" for where we are now.
And let's get all the numbers on the table here. Bush, 34% Democrat-controlled Congress, 11%. |

So true Freebie. Allot have their hands in the cookie jar. There was some kind of BIG break threw about shale oil wasn't there? Something about they found this some place in the U.S.,think Kentucky?, and is suppose to be the new fuel.
11% I did forget about that. That means not even some of there own party approves.LOL I know I don't. Every time I see them on TV all they do is bicker back and forth while nothing get accomplished. SEAPRO I couldn't tell the blood was boiling. Sorry. It was really about how much it is to fill a tank of gas but its all the same. LOL Great job on kicking the smokes. 3 packs a day savings you can get a new boat and a trailer. lol
Believe me. What anyone says on here I take with a grain of salt. Meaning. You might type something and mean it a different way. While I hope I'm treated the same. Miss understandings is the #1 blood boiler. lol

Chucky, just wait a few years until you have to buy a whole bunch of new batteries for your hybrid. Will it cost to 'dispose' of your old batteries like it does for your tires? Remember - liberalism always causes the opposite effect of it's stated intent. |

Freebie - you help me make my point. As I stated, I'm not a Rep. or Dem. The actual numbers for Dem. Congress is 36% approval - Rep. Congress is 32%. Dems. have had a better approval rating since at least 1997 as reported on PollingReport.com.
So, what is my point you may ask? Why do we continually argue about which side is right and which side is wrong, when the polls show that no one is satisfied with either side?? Not saying we need another party, don't think it could happen. BUT - why can't our politicians look at this data and figure out the obvious. The people are not happy with the representation from any of the politicians because they are acting as politicians. We need to hold them to a higher standard and if that means we have to come together as a group then that my friend is what we need to do. We will never do that of course, if all we do is spew their rhetoric, which only serves to feed the continuing of this failed perspective that they hold, in order to manage the power they wield. That power should be OURS, why do we give it to them so easily? My belief is because we allow them to project our attention to things not nearly as important as what the focus should be. We need the power back and we accomplish that by voting accordingly. If we allow the staus quo, we will have nothing more then status quo. People need to get educated, stop listening to parties or politicians for their data (they are politicians) their discussions are self serving! The internet makes it easy to check the info they are giving you. Don't take it for granted that they are telling you the truth. Them vote according to what the truth really is. We have it in our power to change this, I promise you a Dem. or a Rep. won't !! |

| SeaPro, how about PMing me a link to where you got those numbers so we don't bore the rest of the folks here? I sifted through pollingpoint.com, and couldn't find the numbers you published. Your idea of everyone getting educated is good, but will never happen as long as women will vote for Hillary "because she's a woman", and others vote dem "because it's the working man's party" - like Ted Kennedy ever had to work for anything... |

My votes are ALWAYS for my 2nd Amendment Rights!
Therefore, I vote Republican about 75% of the time.
Look what the Anti-Gun folks have done in England and Austrailia.
As for gas prices, England was paying $3.00 decades ago. Currently they are paying $7.00.
