Hello again! I am going deer hunting in Coshocton/Muskingum on the 25th through the 28. Gun season doesn't start until the 26th so I want to get some fishing in at least the first day after I scope out the spot I plan on keeping the ground warm at.

I hear there are Surgeye down there but never fished for them. If any of you have any suggestions on what to use or any spots I should try such as the Muskingum River, Wills Creek, or Ponds on the coal mine property; don't be afraid to let me know !

Oh yea, I already know I'm crazy for going down there opening day with so many (as much as I don't want to say it, IT'S TRUE) MORANS. Hopefully I make it back, and not next to my fathers buck in the trunk. It's been about 10 years since last time but I need to get some "quality" time in with pops. Last time, I was waiting on a hill in front of an evergreen when: BOOOOM BOOOOM BOOOOM, which is fine until those shells are landing on your lap. Seriously! Let's just say I need a new change of underpants.

John......If I were a guessing man I bet your hunting the Conesville coal lands on the coshocton / muskingum border??? On the north side of the river there are some great old strip mine ponds loaded with bass and blue gills. You can get a map on line of the property. most of these lake are a hike back in but worth it, if this is the area you are hunting. I spent alot of deer hunting years in that area in my younger days. AS for Wills Creek lake you almost need a boat unless you plan on fishing the lower spill way over by Rt. 83. Wills creek is a very low wooded lake with alot of low swampy ground hard to get to the waters sdge in most places. Hope this helps - The lundfishrmen-

Lund, now theres AEP, Trivalley, Woodbury, but you should be a guessing man because you are right. Conesville (previously Peabodys) is the spot I go. I like to dodge bullets. LOL. Well, thanks I'll check them out. I already printed the maps.

If you're after saugeye, check the Wills Creek tailwater area as well as any of the locks on the Muskingum River.
