My boy and I went out of Vermilion for some perch today. I had to get him from school because he hit his head and had a goose egg. He slept most of the time out there but I was busy. From 2:00-5:30 37perch. We were in 35fow this time. The water is getting nice and cold. You could see at least 5 foot or better down. Real clear. The trick was again a 2oz weight and old time rock and roll on the radio. I would bang the weight off the bottom to the beat of the song few times and then let slack. When I reeled in the slack real slowww they would smack it. It only worked on WNCX 98.5FM. lol

A friend and I picked up two limits of big jumbos(12 inches) on gold inline 1/2 sinkers and single hooks.Let them lay on the bottom and slowly lifting them off the bottom. About 1/2 mile north of the river mouth. Nice sized minnows from Daves. He gave us more than what we asked/payed for.

Chucky, scale those be for you put them in the smoker!!!!

Nate, that's why they call him good ole Dave !!! You should hear what they call him when they don't buy enough minnows and blame it on Dave!! Some people think that all they need is one or two scoops of minnows and then get mad when they run out. Stop and think how many minnows it takes to catch a perch. Sometimes you get more than one on a minnow and sometimes it takes a few minnows to get one perch. Don't short yourself when you are buying minnows. I buy two scoops per person and then add two more scoops to the order. Sometimes it's close but usually throw some back. I look at it as the bait shop has to make a buck or maybe they won't be there next time you need something.

Thanks wake! Yo bro? You ever want to get out just drop me a line. Thats no bull aether. It's not bad of a boat. It floats and has a kickass stereo !! LOL I don't plan on covering mine until I can't stand the cold. I'll shot ya a PM with my number.

My littlest(8) boy and my buddy Charlie went out perching yesterday. I would of posted last night but the wife had class work to do on the puter. We went right out of Vermilion to 35fow again. The bite was real slow today? They would like just nibble. You had to have a soft touch to feel the bite. We managed to get 37 nice ones.

We stopped for minnies and when I took my minnow bucket out of the boat it had a layer of ice in it!!! The net was all iced up!! I guess it's that time to drain the water out every time I come in so it don't freeze in the motor.
