OFF...not bad, has a nice ring to it, but I can see the slogan now:
Wanna hang with the best?...Feel part of a team?..."Join now and GET OFF"...
Just kidding, I do like it. |

I was kinda thinking last night and it would be cool looking if the club name was OFF and right in the middle of the O in Off if you could put some thing like a fisherman with a kid buy his side like the picture on Dave's home page, sitting on the bottom of the O with there legs hanging off kinda like they were in a swing of sorts.

| i agree that it would be a good idea to just sit down and chit-chat and talk over some ideas. i felt bad with i read the exchange between dave and double eagle. both of them were sharing where they were at with things and it seemed like there were some misunderstanding and hurt feelings. that's one of the limitations of posting like this rather than talking face to face. much eaiser to work through differences or even agree to disagree when you are sitting there with someone in 'real time'. weekends are tough for me but pick a date and i will do my best to be there. |

| I apopologize for pulling my previous posts. Anyone that wants to know my reason PM or E-mail me and I will explain. Also I was joking about volunteering bigmtman and stoshu for office. It should be volunteers. I think we need to see when and where everyone could meet first. If we have to meet in more than one place to get set up. With everyone living all over and work schedules, etc. That way if we have to have more than one meeting to get started we could plan it out. We are going to need about 25 people to get this started. If anyone wants to volunter for office post what office you would be willing to hold. I will start another post for volunteers and meeting times and places. Dave can make it a sticky. Many clubs don't make it, because they can't get people to hold office or make the meetings. As most of you know, I belong to different clubs. I do make most of the meetings at the one because they are about 15 minutes from my house and on the last Monday of the month at 7PM. The other one is about 60 miles away and on the first Tuesday of the month. Just to far to drive and my wife works a 12 hour day on Tuesdays. She prefers that I be home to take care of the dogs. Rather then leaving them alone for hours on end. That's why I don't fish on Tuesdays. Plus I go to the VA Hospital every 2 weeks on Tuesdays. Bob Y. |

| Everyone PLEASE read all Topics pertaining to the club. Some edits were done and some others may be done. We need as much participation as we can get. This club will benefit all. Kids are welcome to the meetings as well. This is there future we are trying to get to. Teach them to fish and stay out of trouble. Teach them about nature and what we have to do to maintain our natural resourses |

I'm in. If all of the Officers are from one area it should make their chances of making a meeting better. I live over 2 hours away but I could find a way to combine a meeting/fishing trip on occasion. Sounds like fun |

| I'll be glad to attend meetings, help financially, and help with necessary chores. I'm not interested in holding an office. |

Looking at this as a fairly new fisherman in the Vermilion area and a first time to post on this forum, two things caught my eye as I read the posts in responce to the original post:
First, someone suggested a Chaplian be included. Nothing can succeed WITHOUT including God. Second, It was suggested that kids be included.
Any orginazation with these two drivers up front in organizing efforts would draw my interest. Count me in! |

Thanks Mark.
I did some surfing tonight on the i net and have a question but am not sure where to post it so thought I'd putit in here since it has to do with the club. I searched for lake area fishing clubs and came across a club called western basin sportfishing assoc and spent some time on their website. After reading through these posts again it appears to me that what has been proposed here is already in place with that club. AM I missing something or is there an issue that I can't see that's wrong and thats why theres a need for another club?
I'm sorry if this is in the wrongplace or out of line. Just trying to understand more. Either way I am trying to make room in my schedule to come to the meeting next week.
Again, great site and can't wait to meet Bait Dave.
Andy

Andy, As with everything there is room for more. There are no clubs between Sandusky and Cleveland. Vermilion is in the Central Basin and about half way between Cleveland and Sandusky. There are also a few clubs in the Cleveland Area. Though they don't keep up with their websites. Cleveland Fishing Association and West Cleveland Walleye Club are 2 that I'm aware of. I belong to the CFA and WBSA. I'm also involved with the new club and will be a member. I may also join the WCWC if I get an invite. You are invited to most of the different club meetings as a guest to see if you would like to join the club. That way you can see which club you like. Just keep in mind that this club is new and we will take some time to get it up and running. I sent you a PM yesterday in reference to your first reply. Thank you for inquiring and welcome to Dave's site. The comments posted here are my own and nobody elses.

Well, since my name has been mentioned a couple of times, I feel a need to respond.
The WBSA is Western Basin in name only. In fact the Vermilion area is in the Sandusky Basin area of the lake. Central Basin starts east of the sandbar in our view since that is the end of mid lake structure.
I didn't realize that this was going to be competition although in hindsite maybe I should have. WBSA has included Dave's bait in all of their tourney info pages since inception even though he didn't sponsor us until this year. He never did join the club although he did ask to buy into it once but because of legal issues that is impossible at this time. We have also loaned him our equipment to use for his 5 tourneys a year that somehow turned into 13 this year. He used our stuff more than we did and never had to walk out of the shop to do it except to take it down to rich's once for a shootout.
This competion statement really has me bugged and I could probably rant for hours about it. I've talked to Bob about this a couple of times and see merit in the formation of your club. I was and am willing to share some insight into what it takes to do this and to share some of our stumbles while setting WBSA up. If it's trully competition then you guys can make those mistakes by yourselves. I'll watch it from a distance, thank you.
Good luck |
