Posted - 07/22/2008 : 22:45:43 Managed to pull a limit again tonight before the squall ran me off the lake. Started @ 34/10 and ran to 33/14. Was a little slower and the fish were smaller than they have been. |

Posted - 07/22/2008 : 18:10:16 Thanks for the info Tim, much appreciated!
Sometimes the info about location can get tight lipped, which I can understand around tourney time, but other than that it's a BIG lake with plenty of fish for everyone, and I think it's only going to get better due to less fishing pressure this year as a result of the fuel costs.
I'm not able to get up there as much this year with gas costs, and I can tell you when I do spend the $$ to come up it's a big help for someone to try to put me on fish. I've also learned a lot and made some friends on this forum, and whenever possible I'll try to help anyone I can find the fish, unfortunately thus far this year, I can only put you on sheephead, I mean freshwater drum, that sounds so much nicer. |

Posted - 07/21/2008 : 22:51:42 BigKev, Double Eagle, TommyLund, Dancin Bear, Rocky, I have been getting info here from you guys all year.....thought it was time to start giving back. Went back to the 33 line tonight between 15 and 12. Was pretty slow but managed to pull 8 nice ones...all in the 4-6 lb range. Crawler harness on a #1 Dipsy set on 2 90 back did the heavy lifting tonight. Thanks again for all your help. |

Posted - 07/21/2008 : 19:39:23 Very good Tim !!! I was told today that there was a patch of fish on the 33 line and you had to be right on them or you didn't get them. Good for you!! This was really the first Sunday I had any problems. We will see how it goes this Sat. I will need to be on my A game!!! Planner board mast is repaired and mounted, all I need to do now is wire it. |

Posted - 07/21/2008 : 16:32:15 I will have to agree with you fellas it was a tough weekend in the Vermilion Lorain area so those of you that found fish can feel darn good about yourself. Friday night we went out and hit the 33/15.5 and pulled 9 in about two hours. Once the sun went down it shut down for us. Saturday got a good report from a friend that they were hitting em pretty good down west of Sherod Park so being as though we had limited time we decided that is where we would fish. Pulled for a few hours with cranks just like the report told us and nothin'. Watched a boat of Amish guys whack em but we couldn't get em goin. Switched to spoons and harnesses and ended up boating one keeper and a bunch of throwbacks. Just wasn't our day. Had to end early otherwise we could've headed for greener pastures. Heard a good report from the 35/18 from a buddy of mine. Small Stinger spoons in yellow jacket and killer bee seemed to be on fire for them. 5 man limit in just under four hours. I'm not sure how they were running them but he said his fish were sitting around 32' ft down. Oh well. I'll be back at em again this coming weekend. Later dudes. |

Posted - 07/21/2008 : 14:09:03 Went out straight North of Beaver Saturday morning to 45 fow and drifted for a couple hours, lotsa bottom marks, lotsa marks 10 foot above bottom also and no takers. Went East to Hot Waters and worked our way back from there trying everything from 40 fow to 16 fow by the time we were West of the Beaver entrance. Must have hauled anchor 6 times during that time...lotsa bottom marks....no bites!!! Moved to 22 fow just East of the condo's and hit into a school of decent white bass and middlin sized sheep for a couple hours and finally pulled up stakes and went home. Would have tried deeper early in the morning but the motor would only get up to about half rpm's and couldn't get above 12 mph all day. ( Scheduled the Beaver mechs to look at the thing this week.$$$$) Made for a lot of very relaxing cruising, but was hard on the fishin' nerve...lol. Still...a bad day on the Lake beats a good day at work anytime.

Posted - 07/21/2008 : 12:29:34 DE, don't know what you're going to need to replace, but I saw what appears to be a good buy on OGF Marketplace on some Big Jon equipment. |

Posted - 07/20/2008 : 23:07:37 Went out of Vermilion sat., fished all day with only one eye and two perch to show for it. Fished again sun. and struggled to get any thing going untill mid afternoon we started to pick them up pretty fast in front of the castle in 21 ft. of water on Reefrunners on the inline board at 40 back, pearl ghost, mooneye minnow, and bare naked all took their share of fish, finnaly had our two tickets by about 5 pm. No hogs but several in the 4-5 pound range. Turned out to be a nice day after a few showers. Was nice to meet Lundfishrmen at the dock on sat.

Posted - 07/20/2008 : 21:15:34 Just wasn't much posting this week end!! Was probable my toughest day on the lake this year. Took me until 4 pm to pull three tickets, just couldn't get on them. Needed to be a little more north than where I was to start out first thing this morning. Worst thing was my planner board mast snapped off at the end of the day. We were just lucky that it didn't go threw the windshield. Better days a head I hope, i have some guys from work to take this Sat. |

Posted - 07/20/2008 : 08:25:12 Double Eagle.......Not Much to report. Fished vermilion sat till noon. $ throw back walleyes and one nice keeper that smiled and spit the hook so feet behind the boat. Tried eveything in the boat but no active fish could be found. Great day on the lake though. Met up with tommy-lund and seapro for lunch at the red clay after fishn and had a great lunch and good conversation. Overall it sounded like everyone was strugglin. Clear skies and a bright full moon the night before was no help with the inactive fish i'm sure. However I did talk to Rocky on the water and at one point he had nine in the box. He must of found the one active school of fish on the lake. |
