Posted - 04/27/2008 : 01:33:55 Well I don't normally fish for cats until the first or second week of may but I decided to spend a few hours at the vermilion river tonight just to see if they had started to come up the river. Night started slow with a small sheep-head the only fish in the first hour. Then I landed a 19 lbs carp and a 8.5 lbs sheep-head. About 10:30 PM caught the first cat of the night. He was about 2.5 lbs. Went on to catch a total of 9 cats, 4 sheep-head, and two carp. The second carp was about 15 lbs and one of the cats was a little over 10 lbs. All the cats came on shrimp. 19 lbs carp 8.5 lbs sheephead
 10 lbs cat
 7 lbs cat

Posted - 04/27/2008 : 22:40:04 a 72 pounder you say. lol I have had my best luck the first two weeks of may. caught a 17 lbs about three years ago at the spillway at the city docks and last year we caught 15 or more over 13 lbs there. Fish-n-friend thanks for the info I have never fished up there. But I have always heard good reports about it. |
