Posted - 09/12/2007 : 08:26:46 I have been fishing around the islands most of the summer, 1 very sucessful trip to ruggles. I had planned on taking my dad and father in law to vermillion this weekend to try out the bar. But by the sounds of it, the bar seems to have shut down. Is it still worth the trip, or should I try over around the islands or ruggles again? A couple of buddies did pretty well over there last weekend around rattlesnack. My father ion law likes to fish but hasn't had much of a chance to for the past couple of years and I would like to put him on some fish. Thanks in advance. |

Posted - 09/14/2007 : 23:12:34 Fished the southern end of the bar today with no success. Headed out of the V at 12:45 PM, went North to the 32 line and trolled east from the 20 line to the 18 line and didn't mark any fish. Moved inside to the 28 line and marked fish but didn't catch anything and was ran off the water with 6 footers at 3:30pm
Saturday doesn't look any better with very strong winds from the NW. Maybe late in the afternoon we will be able to get out. |

Posted - 09/14/2007 : 09:37:32 Well after a trip to the dr. with my wife my weekend, and all of fall plans changed! Our baby due Dec 1 is now going to come around the 3rd week in Oct and my wife will be going to the hospital in the next week or two for precautionary reasons. I have one chance to get to the lake for the rest of the season and that comes Sunday. Is the bar going to be the place to go, or should I head to ruggles or even to the islands? I hear there is still a decent bite over there. Want to make this last trip a success. |

Posted - 09/12/2007 : 08:55:23 Kingfish, With this latest blow the lake really got ripped up,but here are a couple ideas. The reef area off Cranberry has given up some fish lately in 20-22 fow.And the perch bite near the bouys off Vermilion has heated up so I would think some eyes should be around if the water clears by the weekend and the weeds settle to the bottom. If I can get out over the next couple days I will post results.
