Posted - 04/16/2008 : 06:53:23 Just curious if anyone has tried or heard of anyone fishing the lorain breakwall at night for walleyes yet?? One year ago this weekend we were nailing em' at lorain. I'm no expert but it seems things are a few weeks behind from last year. Getting the itch to do some night fishing! BK. I'll still take you up on your night time shore fishing offer when the time is right! |

Posted - 05/13/2008 : 22:14:02 Carl....good luck as its been spotty at best. However, I don't think that many are fishing for them right now. It's a real possibility we've not been there at the right times. I'd like to try the night bite again, but the weather never cooperates when i have the time. Good luck! Let us now how you do if you make it up. |

Posted - 05/11/2008 : 08:12:01 We badly need a week of solid steady warm weather. It seems this springs weather has been very spotty. I didn't make the trip last night...I'll hold off for better weather. Hopefully get the boat to the big lake next weekend with any luck. |

Posted - 05/10/2008 : 17:31:32 Pulled 1 fish by boat last night. Slow, Slow, Slow! South winds are needed badly. |

Posted - 05/10/2008 : 09:47:00 The east winds have hurt us along the east side of Lorain. Really hard to fish in waves & dirty water. So........no luck lately by me. ErieBoy75 |

Posted - 05/10/2008 : 08:01:59 Anybody hit the rocks this week????????????? I wanted to go to vermilion today, but have soccer game, baseball practice and softball practices today. I was thinking of going to Lorain tonight, but didn't want to waste the gas if the fishing has still been spotty. Any comments would be appreaciated.

Posted - 05/05/2008 : 21:47:08 Erieboy,,, Well I have to agree with you about the bite not really here yet. After reading other emails and the unstable weather, I think the bite is still to come yet. We saw very few baitfish along the rocks. Last year it looked like you could walk across the minnows when the fish were biting. In years past most of our good bites came close to shore, and the 6lbr. I got fri. was deep when my lure just hit the water, wich seemed a little unlikely. I hope our next trip is better, as the hour + drive and the gas prices make those unproductive trips painfull!!! Still relaxin' though! |

Posted - 05/04/2008 : 18:18:25 The bait fish showed up along my pier last night. There have been a few before, but there were tons last night (enough for a decent perch trip this afternoon!). IMO the night bite is far from over. The best action I've had in the past has been when the water is about 57F. The biggest ones are usually caught first, but we've caught them into June in the past. We just need some stable weather and/or some south winds to clean up the water. It's a mess now. Keep casting! ErieBoy75 |

Posted - 05/04/2008 : 09:16:11 Hit the rocks at lorain again last night with my uncle and brother in law. Got there at 8 and fished till midnight. No eyes!...........just one nice rock bass. Still very little bait fish along the rocks. Thought maybe the fishing before the cold front might be the key, but no luck. Did seee group of guys beyond us have 1 or 2 on their stringer. Threw everything but the tackle box at them, husky jerks, x-raps, shad raps, reef runners of all sizes, minnow raps, rogues, wild eye minnows, tail dancers, and on and on, but no luck. Not sure either the walleyes have moved off shore already or they haven't really been in the area much. Looks like it'll be from the boat next weekend. Good fishin' to all. The -Lundfishrmen- |

Posted - 05/03/2008 : 08:46:59 Well...we ventured up to the rocks last. Decided to go even though the radar didn't look very promising. However what a great weather night. South winds, no waves, warm and eventually cleared to a starry night. Got there at 9:30 and fished to 1am. We casted mainly husky jerks, x-raps, rogues and reef runners to them. I caught 1 walleye at 10:15 on a HJ-12 purple descent. It went 26"s and I'm guessing a fat 6lbs and gave me some fight for a minute. My brother in-law caught 2 smallies on an Hj-12 as well and unfortunately my 12 yr. old son got skunked. We didn't tear them up but had some fun. Didn't see any bait fish along the rocks last night. We probably shoulod have went down the wall farther, but it was a muddy walk in and wasn't feeling that adventurous./ Good luck to all. -The Lundfishrmen- |

Posted - 04/30/2008 : 16:26:25 Been kind of hit or miss on our end. Had some really good nights trolling the east side of the river this past weekend. Some nights they're on some nights they aren't. If the water would warm a bit I"m sure they will take off. Stay tuned! |

Posted - 04/28/2008 : 20:41:41 Well did anyone get to do any fishing off the rocks this weekend???????? I planned on Friday evening but couldn't make it up. Was a great evening and just wondered if anyone found any eyes willing to bite? |

Posted - 04/24/2008 : 18:22:46 John, I fish 2 miles east of the Lorain Harbor. Each of my fish & hits have come from 8:20 to 9:00. I heard of fish caught off Sheffield Lake a week or more ago.....all about 7:30 to 8:30pm. I sure wish this east wind would stop blowing. West, south or nothing at all, please! ErieBoy75 |

Posted - 04/24/2008 : 13:12:42 I have been going almost every night. I have to work early so I only stay out until about midnight. Friday was real good, Saturday was slow. Those two days I got out late 10:30 or later because I knew last year that was about the time they were hitting in the fall. I heard that everyone was getting theirs from about 9:30-10:30 so I started going earlier. Sunday I got one, with two others on but shook off. Monday I didn't get to go. Tuesday was real slow, nobody said they even got a bite. Last night my friend got one, I had a bite but it got off. I only fished from about 9:30-10:30 though. Has anyone heard anything about a little farther east? |

Posted - 04/23/2008 : 08:10:08 BK, Did you get a chance to fish the rocks this weekend??? I'm going to try it either friday or saturday this weekend depending what mother nature deals us. I'm assuming it was still a bit slow with not many reports. I did see that Skipnskull had a few good reports on the OGF site as he was trolling in front of Sherod at night bringing in some tickets of eyes! |

Posted - 04/20/2008 : 08:23:00 Dave I was on the north rock wall at Spitzer. We got there a little late and there was to many on the east side for us to try to squeeze in. Wives Idea to go so I wasn't arguing. |

Posted - 04/20/2008 : 07:51:39 Well did anyone venture out Sat night to the rocks?? I thought maybe the front moving in would've spurred the fish to move in and bite?? I was at my sons baseball game thinking of reelin' in some big eyes! Next weekend I guess. |

Posted - 04/19/2008 : 08:48:54 Yep, Dave, my backyard (2 miles east of the river). She hit about 15' off the end of the pier, which is only about 30' long. the water is about 5' deep right there. Cool! I think I'm going perchin' before the rain comes. ErieBoy75 |
