Posted - 09/30/2009 : 18:57:38 Bk< It was a sad time when it was left run down like it was. It is going to take every ones effort to make it the place it use to be!! I think your skills and comments are welcome and appreciated by all. No one is here to bash anyone just to help others like we use to. Good to hear from you Kev!! |

Posted - 09/30/2009 : 13:47:29 Having a rough go with those inlines eh DE. LOL. Each and every one of these techniques has there place. Jets are great if you run big boards but just not as easy to run off the little boards. Nice to see this site up and running again. I thought I'd start visiting here occassionally if I'm still welcome. Heard some things thru the grapevine that I had to come check out for myself. Pretty cool to see this up and running again. |

Posted - 09/25/2009 : 22:41:17 I keep telling you Rod, you should hook my little boat up as a really big board for you to use. I can get the lines out further than those little sissy boards you are now using! I would keep those other guys from cutting your lines (maybe). Plus, it would save me alot of gas... |

Posted - 09/25/2009 : 13:51:29 I run 2-4 in line boards all the time.Out side board is around 100'-150' out and the inside board is 75'-100'out. I have found that a #40 is the biggest you can use,a #50 will sink it and a 4oz weight is the max also or you will sink the board at slow or stopped speed. When fishing by my self I will also use Jets on my boards because they don't sink,so with running only 2 rods I can just slow way down or stop to reel/net a fish and don't have to worry about touching bottom with the other rod. |

Posted - 09/25/2009 : 05:16:46 I would bight my tongue and put out two baby boards to get my line away from the boat( min. I think 50' and maybe up to 75 or 100'). You could run them both out the same side so they are easier to watch. Then I would run like Hawg Hunter said 40 jets. Looks like with the high fish being caught I would use maybe a 10 or 20 jet set to only go down around 10'. I also think you can run 50 jets on those baby boards. Run crawler harnesses , spoons or cranks. I think your problem is your lines are too close to the boat and the fish are getting spooked. Also remember my set backs are what is working for me and might not be the exact set back for you. You may need to shorten up a little or maybe even let out a little more. When you hear Sara-J say she is running jets back 100' that pull line might be an other 10' out of the water hooked to his big boards. So you might need to be back say 110 to match his 100'. But I do think your biggest problem is running lines to close to the boat. I think this is why Dipseys haven't worked as well this year. Just my thought. I have two sets of baby boards with all of the bells and whistles that you are more than welcome to try, prove me wrong. |

Posted - 09/24/2009 : 21:49:37 Freebie, I know this was towards DE but if I had just 2 rods to put out it would be 40 jets on double orange crush or mixed veggies crawler harness at 1.6 - 1.8. Hey DE, I thought I was the only one who ran meatballs. |

Posted - 09/24/2009 : 17:44:51 OK, Mr, big boards! You got two line (not 20) to run. What would you do? Color, depth, speed, dipsey, diver, downrigger, meat or metal? What would you do? (I usually end up calling you to get the program!) |

Posted - 09/24/2009 : 10:31:08 Hey guys, i was out there and i agree ! big boats had the advantage for sure. Sunday did get ruff near the 300 mark but was a pleasent fishing day! A fun day! Like D.E. said fun! Well when you sell out in three days its tuff to argue. little d ! |

Posted - 09/24/2009 : 05:13:55 I don't know either, sometimes they would do good early and then just shut down. Don't run my riggers that much and when I do it is usually with just a meatball and no rod!! Sometimes they are just more in the way than what they produce!! |

Posted - 09/23/2009 : 19:56:24 I like using the inline weights with the little boards but not with the big boys.DE,you are right on the big boards produce fish. I don't know what happened I used to be deadly with the dipseys. Any more I'll take the riggers over them. Don't know what happened maybe its just me. The 3-4 setting is all I can get to work. |

Posted - 09/23/2009 : 19:45:24 Freebie, You just need some more coaching and you will be fine!!! Got to get those line away from the boat. Sometimes for some reason not known by me a dipsey just don't work ( for me anyway). So that is when your boards take over. Now with just one guy the little baby boards are ok and will work. But when you want to run 10 or 20 rods you need the big dogs!!! The most I have run on my boat has been 5 on a side and that is because thats all I have right now!!! That's enough!! Big boards are deadly, dipseys and riggers work now and then but more fish will come off of the boards!!! |

Posted - 09/23/2009 : 05:01:47 Any time Mark, I'd be glad to give you some advise and show you how to ,make some kick ass boards. Freebie, I still think jet's are the ticket!!! Perchen sucked like drifting!!! When your not catchen it all sucks!!! How many times do you get a hit and let line out??? Who catches the most fish on the lake??? Sara-J !!! What does she run??? Jets, not weights!!! She also runs side divers, like dipseys. How ever they don't always produce and they go back to??? JETS!!!!!! JETS JETS JETS and more JETS!!!! No one has proved those weights to me as of yet and I am good friends with one of the men that makes them!! |

Posted - 09/23/2009 : 02:50:48 You guys crack me up man.I love my dipsys but I have to admit when targeting the upper water column last year and this year the in line weights have produced the best for me.
Rod I seen other boats with the reels mounted on the t-tops and it got me thinking about my winter project.Have to get with you some time this winter and B.S. about the right way to rig this project up. |

Posted - 09/22/2009 : 22:01:11 I think Rednek has something to do with with the inlines this year. No one had the weight selection he offers, and they're a hell of a lot easier to reel in. It seems like I did better before I took Rod's advice and started doing dipsys and jets and stuff! Besides, I gotta drive the boat and land the fish (unlike some guys with a crew!(DE)) Rod, do you remember how to drift? I think drifting would drive you nuts! How did you end up perchin' Sunday? |

Posted - 09/22/2009 : 20:49:06 DE Craig at Erieoutfitters told me that the weights were good because if you got a hit, you could line out and the lure would sink, like a real bait fish would and the walleye would come back to grab it. But with jets, they float up if you let line out and he said that's not as effective. OR it could be that jets were hot last year and to keep the revenues up, the fishing supply companies (and walleyes) decided to go with in-lines this year so they could take more of our money, but that's just a theory! Posted - 09/22/2009 : 18:30:44 Mark, I need to get you to grow up and get into those manly big boards and quit playing with those baby boards!!! You have the T top now you can run your board lines off of it!! |

Posted - 09/22/2009 : 12:21:12 Never really tried using a jet targeting the top 20 FOW with in line boards, does it work just as good D.E.?.I do know that using the weights you can getting the harnesses away from the small boards more in shallow settings. I also think just my opinion,if I was using big boards then I would send out a bunch of 10-20 jets to target the top 20 FOW but with just running 4 lines most of the time the weights are much easier for me to work with.May be its just how or what some like to use, don't know really. |
