We went out today for some perch and on the way out we was looking at the sonar. It is loaded with bait fish and bigger marks. It gets so thick with bait in some places the sonar will read only 3 to 4fow!!! I have only seen a couple roll so far.

Well if you have a boat afloat in the Vermilion. It's more then likely not afloat any longer. This wind has sucked the water right out.

You can not launch/retrieve at the public dock. The water edge is about a foot from the orange poles and we know whats beyond the poles. The lake is all in a uproar. I thought I had the camera but find out the teenager garbed it. Again.

If the kids have a kite. Today sure would be the day to fly it.

Here is a nice female that he let lose.

Here is a small female about 14-15" I cought about 6 of these today. Cought a nice female about 27" also but let her go. I had the camera and forgot to take a picture of her before letting her go.

Here is one of the holes I was fishing today.

Thanks BK! My boy and I are going to go Saturday morning so if I can find a few I'll try it.lol

I forgot to say what we was using. We were drifting mini-foo jigs tipped with waxies and maggots. I think the jig was a 1/64th oz? No weight like Wake said. The water is crystal clear and shallow. Them little ones would hold under the rock ledges and dart out after the fly when it drifted by.

LMAO!!! Charlie is a die hard fisherman. If you just mumble the word fish he will drop anything in his hands and is up running for his shoes. Sometimes he forgets them!! I'll let him know. LOL Thats funny!!

Wake,
When you tie that fly what type of feather or hair do u use? Could u kind of walk me thru it step by step. I've tried to tie it but am a beginner and I'm having difficulties with it. I can get it close but not quite like you have there. I would appreciate it greatly brother.

Wake, What a shot!!!!!! I can see her breath!!!!!!

Is that the Mysis shrimp you was talking about? No afence but it looks like you stepped on it a few times on the floor or was you going for that grunge look? LMAO I'm just messin with ya bro. What the hell do I know what a fly is suppose to look like. LOL

I tried a sucker spawn yesterday but I couldn't get it to drift right or sink. It only wanted to float on top. So I tied back a minni-foo. Hooked into a nice male but I was messing with my drag and he threw the hook right at me. I had duck so I didn't get smacked by the float. LOL

i tie those little morsel .. with the following ..

hook = daiichi #1120 size 14,16

start with apprx 4-6 strains of pearl flash

then tie the eyes (usually burnt mono about 20# test works well for this) .. at the top bend on the hook

then i wrap in some hackle short stuff or the tips of a schalpen hackle is what i use.(adds more action to the flie )

then i dubb in some pearlescent dubbing material or white antron for more stain water...

for the tail you can use pearl flash or pre made shrimp tails but those are more expensive, and more for show really,,,, fish hit either way ...

good luck !!

just got back from the rock and played some chin music and those fish today ... man the tube flies were smoking today .. fish pattern and black and gold woolys was all that was needed today ... caught all darker fish but they were HOT HOT HOT !!!! biggest may have been close to 11 # bite stayed on for most of the day just had to keep moving .. Wake

p.s what DE you dont like pink flamingos that eat pierogies
