Meet up with Trollone at Hot Waters this morning. Checked out his new ride and also meet his Dad. We Both headed out towards the 34/14 area. We got set up with a N/W troll, the program was one big board with three Reef Runners out about 170' and one dipsey back about 100' at a 3 setting with a Alien Stinger spoon. On the other side I ran two inline boards with a Pearl ghost and a Mooneye Minnow Reef Runners, out 100' with a 2 oz weight inline with my leader. I also ran two dipseys at 120' back on a 3.5 setting and 100' back at a 2.25 setting with spoons, Alien and Ole Pete's (Rod's) Big One. First fish came off of a Pearl ghost on the inline boards. My plan was to see if the big boards did any better than the inline boards and did the cranks get bigger fish than did the spoons. We did get a nice 27" on a Mooneye Minnow off of the inlines. Also we had one on the inlines that took it under like a bobber and bent the rod over big time and then it was off. After that it didn't look like it was running quite like the other board so I pulled it in to check it out. It broke my leader and took my Pearl ghost, this did not make me a happy camper to loose a reef. Lesson learned, loosen up your drag you big dummy. That was a fresh 25# leader that I had just tied on Sat. so I know it was good, it broke at the knot and left my snap. I know it wasn't a big sheephead because they don't get off they make you reel them in and take all of the hooks out. It turned out to be a good morning, we finished at 9:15 and had to throw back three that we had on be for we could pull all of the rods. A big thanks to Redneck for keeping us posted on what the weather was doing and what was coming. Also talked to Wake and to Crosseyes long enough to say hay. We were off of the lake in good time as not to get too wet.
A 27" off of the inline boards on Mooneye Minnow (Thanks Big Kev)

Well done good and faithful servant.
How deep were the reefs running with the 2 oz weight at the leader and a 100' setback? |

| Redneck, The best I can figure is that they were running between 35-40ft. Since that's where we were marking fish, and catching them. Give or take how much they are willing to chase. |

| Nice fish guys. Walleye1kinobie and I hit that area in the afternoon in between rain showers and pulled 7 drifting in an hour and a half. Didn't like the way the skies looked around 430 pm so we headed for land. Most of our fish came on Gold 1 oz Erie Dearies on a 35 count. We would have taken our limit but didn't want to risk it seeing as though they were calling for storms in the pm. |

| Way to go DE. Looks like you have really got the goods. Viper was out Saturday and took 2 limits plus did some catch and release. I was supposed to be with him but ended up having to cancel out with a sick dog. He braved the waves and said it calmed down late in the day. |

| OK guys here is the scoop on the fish holder. Some where around 8 years ago I seen them some where and I decided to make my own out of stainless steel. If there is any thing that I don't want is a thrashing fish with treble hooks caught in my hand. Back when I made it George's Bait had something similar made out of some kind of plastic. It works really well and worth it's weight in gold. Mark or some of you fabricators should be able to make these real easy !!!! |

Rod,
Nice job on the eyes. You are getting it down to a science. I was wondering when you were going to open up your stash of plugs. Tell Bill to smile next time!
Took the wife camping at East Harbor this past weekend and was praying for nice weather!
Did't get the nice weather but did catch a window late Saturday afternoon. Caught a few small eyes casting on the SW corner of Kelleys.
Oh yeah I caught one of the eyes on old petes

| Ozdog, Lets just say for right now that it was close to being fifty fifty with I think the bigger eyes coming on the cranks. One thing for sure was that I cut down on junk fish and that is always a plus. One thing I didn't get to do is run some crawler harnesses, may be next week. I also think an other plus was slowing my speed down. I think the combo of spoons and cranks is the ticket. Any time you can up your chances of catching fish I think is a plus. Now lets try to get some bigger fish !!!! |

Crosseyes, my speed was usually around 2-2.4mph. I usually run around 2.8-3mph. I think the higher speed was why I wasn't doing well on crawler harnesses also, we will see next week. Might also try some Gulp crawlers.
Mark, I know you can make that pretty easy. The yoke only has to be big enough to get your hand threw it and I think I used 1/4 stainless steel tig welding rod and kind of just rounded the end that you run threw the gills. If you find them easy to make you might make some extras and sell them or they would make good gifts. You can put them next to the Reef Runner tuners that you made. LOL !!!! I didn't see mine !!! |

| I'm sorry D.E. I plain forgot about that,I did make a few and they worked but the ones you buy at daves are just smaller and so light(trying to get out of that one LOL)This fish holder will work great I think and Jesse will love it because it always seems that some how-some way he will cut himself on the gill plate-teeth etc. |
